Henry A. Simmons Jr., was born on November 15, 1920 to the late H. Aldine Simmons Sr., and Daisy Grant Simmons of Goldsboro.
Henry served as a B-25 bomber pilot in the Pacific Theater during World War II and retired as a Lt. Colonel from the United States Air Force Reserves. While serving his country, he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross with one Air Medal with an Oak Leave Cluster. He also retired from the United States Postal Service after 37 years of service and for 20 years served as president and trustee of the Goldsboro Postal Credit Union.
Henry was a member of the Wayne County Amateur Radio Association in Goldsboro, NC where he served as a past president and trustee. He was a past president of the Goldsboro Jaycees, former member of the Goldsboro Kiwanis Club, and was a charter member of the Madison Avenue Baptist Church.
Henry passed away on August 16, 2009.
